Star Tribune Endorses Paul Rosenthal for House District 41B

October 28th, 2010

“A division in GOP ranks in 2008 created an opening for DFLer Paul Rosenthal to win in ordinarily Republican-leaning south Edina and west Bloomington. The question for 41B voters is whether moderate, hard-working Rosenthal is a keeper, regardless of his party label.

We think he is.”

“You are the most qualified candidate and would best represent the ideals and positions of the fire fighters. Our endorsements are not easily obtainable and only those who have shown their concerns for the firefighters issues and the citizens we protect earn this honor.”

Welcome home, Red Bulls!

April 12th, 2010

On April 10 I was privileged to meet with the officers of the 34th (Red Bull) Infantry Division of the Minnesota National Guard.  I expressed to them our sincere thanks for the Division’s long service in Iraq.  Like their families, we are all glad to have them safely home again.

The 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 34th Infantry Division (1/34th BCT) is headquartered at the Bloomington National Guard Armory on West 98th Street.  This unit is capable of supporting the US Army with a trained and ready combat force.  These soldiers also are prepared to support the State of Minnesota’s civil authorities in a disaster.  You can read more about the 34th (Red Bull) Infantry Division of the Minnesota National Guard here.

At Last! Much-needed Improvement to the Hwy 169 / I-494 Interchange

April 7th, 2010

Everybody in our area knows that the Highway 169 / Interstate 494 interchange is the source of constant frustration and traffic delays.  However, many are unaware that it is rated as the second most dangerous interchange in Minnesota.  It has been this way for years, and improvements are long overdue.

This is why I was pleased that MinnDOT finally added it to a list of high-priority projects to be accomplished this year.  The result should be less frustration, better traffic conditions, and–most important of all–significantly safer driving conditions.

R&D Tax Credit

March 3rd, 2010

As a member of the Small Business Caucus, I have worked hard on bipartisan initiatives to improve the climate for small businesses in Minnesota.

One result of that work is a bill that I authored to create a new tax credit for research and development expenditures.  I believe that this initiative can play a key role in laying the groundwork for economic recovery and in enhancing Minnesota’s long-run competitiveness.

You can read the full press release describing the bill here.
